The presents have all been opened, the tree will be taken down very soon. All we have to look forward to here in MN is 3 long months of cold, wet, very white winter.
I went for a walk on Christmas Eve, and if it wasn't for the snow blowing in my face...it would of been really beautiful. There is just something about the cold stillness of a winter night. Light whisps of breath being blown out in front of your mouth. The flush of your cheeks. The crunch of the snow beneath your foot. When you return to warmth, the hot rush and tingle of blood flowing to your skin again. We so seldom go out into the cold at night, it's very easy to forget how beautiful it all is.
I'm hoping to start a new tradition of a Christmas Eve walk out in the night. I love the thought of stopping to appreciate the beauty of the night, amid the hustle and bustle of the season.
It's been dreadfully cold the last few nights. The other kitty I feed lives outside somewhere hopefully warm. She just started showing up on my deck one day, so I've been feeding her ever since. She came 2 days ago...and before that about a week ago. I think about her. If she is freezing, hungry or worse, sick or in pain. Poor girl. I am planning on building a cat shelter. I know....a little late for that. But hopefully next year (if she makes it) she can stay in that for the winter. I'm also thinking about trapping her with a live trap as soon as it gets warmer. I hope she survives the winter! Sweet little girl. Does she have a chance??? Anyone know?
